How to make a word search
Add your words. Type or paste them, one per line. Spelling lists, names, vocabulary, a theme – anything works.
Pick a grid size. Small grids suit young children and large print; larger grids give experienced solvers more to hunt through.
Choose a difficulty. Easier puzzles keep words running forward; harder ones hide words in more directions.
Choose directions. Across, down, diagonal and backwards – turn each on or off.
Print, save as PDF, or solve on screen. The answer key prints on a separate page.

Are these word search puzzles free?
Yes. You can make, print and save as many as you like.
Is a word find puzzle the same as a word search?
Yes. Word search, word find and word seek all describe the same puzzle: words hidden in a grid of letters.
How many words can I add?
Up to 40 words per puzzle. Each word needs at least 2 letters and can be no longer than the grid is wide, so longer words need bigger grids. If a word doesn't fit, the tool tells you which one and leaves it out.
Can I print without the answers?
Yes. The puzzle prints on page 1 and the answer key on page 2. To print without the answers, choose only page 1 in the print dialog.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in your web browser.
